The moral power of the cross

-J.L. Dagg, Manual of Theology

Contemplating Jesus' sacrifice is the highest motive to holiness.

We resolve to live to him who died for us.
The world loses it's charm.
Sin appears infinitely hateful.
We look on Him whom we have pierced, and mourn.
He was murdered by our sins.

In the presence of the cross, we feel that omnipotent grace
has seized our hearts, and we surrender to dying love.
