Heaven on earth...

Spurgeon, "Good Cheer for Christmas"

When our Beloved takes us into the banqueting-house
of real conscious fellowship with himself,
and waves the love-banner over us,
our holy joy is as much superior to all merely human mirth,
as the heavens are above the earth.

Then do we speak and sing with sacred zest,
and feel as if we could weep for very joy of heart,
for our Beloved is ours and we are his.
His left hand is under our head,
and his right hand does embrace us,
and our only fear is lest anything should grieve our
Beloved, and cause him to withdraw himself from us.

For it is heaven on earth, and the fair preview of heaven
above to see his face, and to taste his love.

Communion with Christ is as the wine on the lees well
refined.
