Pride is the parent of numberless sins.

High notions of what we deserve
from God, or from men, produce . . .
impatience,
discontent,
envy,
anger,
strife, and
all uncharitableness.

Lord, give me a humble heart. Conscious
that I deserve nothing good from You, may
I receive joys with thankfulness, and sorrows
with submission.
